There’s nothing quite like reliving your wedding day through film—the laughter, the vows, the first dance, and all the in-between moments you might have missed. That’s why we’re so excited to feature Liam from Springtide Media, whose work brings every love story to life with beauty and emotion.
In this blog, we’re shining a spotlight on his creative process, talking about how he got into videography and why having a professional videographer is one of the best investments you can make for your big day.
How did you get into videography for weddings?
In 2017 my sister was planning her wedding, and at the time I was only dabbling in video but had never filmed a wedding before. She asked me to film what I could of her wedding day, and make a video for them. At the time, I had no idea what it would lead to. I filmed her wedding, and despite the running around, and high pressure of capturing the emotions of the wedding day, I had a blast! Since then I have filmed over 200 weddings.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of filming weddings is to witness and capture the power is in the quieter moments. The sidelong glances. The laughter in the background. The way a parent lingers just a second longer before letting go. And the spontaneous acts of love and connection shared amongst friends and strangers at these events I'm capturing. These people will never all be in the same room again. That’s not poetic—it’s just true. And it makes everyone significant, not just the couple to me.
What is one thing you wish people knew before they came to talk to you?
Before couples came to talk to me about wedding videography, I wish they knew how much storytelling, planning, and emotion goes into capturing their day — it's not just about filming events, it's about preserving memories that will last a lifetime.
What's your number one piece of advice for couples who want a videographer at their wedding?
My number one advice to couples who want a videographer at their wedding is to book early and trust the process. The best storytellers often get booked a year or more in advance, and when you allow them the creative freedom to capture your day authentically, that’s when the magic happens. Let your connection, emotions, and energy shine — we’ll take care of turning it into something timeless.
What would you say to people who are on the fence about having a videographer?
To those who are on the fence about having a videographer at their wedding I'd say that photos are beautiful, but video brings your day to life in a completely different way. You’ll hear the laughter, the vows, the cheers, and catch the little in-between moments you didn’t even realize were happening. It’s the closest thing to reliving your day — and years from now, you’ll be so glad you have it.
What should people budget for a videographer?
When it comes to budgeting for a wedding videographer, couples should plan to invest anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 on average, depending on experience, location, coverage hours, and the style of film you’re looking for. But here’s the real thing to consider: This is one of the only investments from your wedding day that increases in value over time. The flowers fade, the cake gets eaten, but your video — that’s what brings it all rushing back for years to come.
