What do you love about your job? Tell us about you and how you got into the industry
I knew early on that I wanted to be in weddings, maybe it was my obsession with 'say yes to the dress' as a teenager haha who knows, but I knew I wanted to be a part of making someone feel amazing! 11 years ago when I started out I saw a need for a different approach to bridal makeup in the industry. I wanted to help enhance my clients natural beauty, so they could feel confident in their skin without wearing a ton of makeup that they're just not used to doing. As a hair and makeup artist I feel so beyond honored to spend the morning with my clients, it's such an intimate setting and to be invited into that space is not something I take lightly! You're surrounded by your most cherished people, drinking, eating, sharing stories and getting glammed, it truly is the best work atmosphere and I love that I get to be a small part of it.

What is something you wish more people knew before they came to talk to you?
I think it comes as a bit of a shock to a lot of brides when I tell them that it's simply not possible to get 9 people's hair and makeup complete in a 3 hour window, glam takes time my friends!! The only person who should be scheduling your morning timeline is your chosen hair and makeup artists, not your friend who just got married or your photographer, mom etc etc. Artists have set times they know they can complete a style within and its so important to just trust your beauty team and not try to rush the process. If a bride is really concerned about timing for the morning its a great idea to reach out during the inquiry stage about adding additional artists to help speed up the process, another tip is to know your timeline for the day before inquiring, or at least a rough idea of your day of timeline. It's super helpful because once you know what time you need to be ready by, your artists can work backwards from there to give you a timing of when glam will start! Your morning sets the tone for the entire day so it's always my top priority to create a relaxed environment and the last thing we want is anyone to feel like they are rushed for time!

Can you explain how trials work/ why brides should consider them
Trials are so important, they can help you decide exactly what you like and don't like without the pressure and stress of doing it for the first time on your wedding day! The key thing to remember with trials is that they are not the time to try 3 different hair and makeup styles, you'll be overwhelmed with the options and seeing too many styles in a short amount of time. Trying multiple looks at your trial also doesn't allow you to wear the style for the entire day to see how your hair and makeup hold up, what it looks like in different lighting etc. It's best to come prepared with 1 look you want to achieve and then with your artist's help, they'll fine tune your inspiration to suit your unique features and give suggestions so it's tailored to you! After your trial and wearing it for the day is when you can go back to your stylist with notes, this is super important to be honest and upfront with your artists (trust me you're not hurting anyone's feelings if there's something you didn't love and want changed, we want it to be perfect just as much as you do!!) perhaps you want your lips to be a darker shade, more volume in your hair, slightly less or more foundation, or change the veil placement, all these things are small changes that your artist can then adjust for the wedding day so that your glam is exactly how you envisioned it. Your wedding morning is sacred in my eyes, not to be dramatic haha but it really is the only time you get to sit, be pampered and relax before the party starts and you're being pulled a million different ways. It's an intimate setting with only your nearest and dearest around which is why I love to have a trial cause I get to meet you before the wedding, hear about your love story and wedding planning details, it my time to build a rapport with you, this way I'm not a complete stranger to you on your special day!

What are some of your must have products
I can't live without my Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation, I use it on pretty much every bride, bridesmaid, mom, aunt you name it. Another staple is my Makeup by Mario eyeshadow palettes, they are just chefs kiss. For hairstyling I love Moroccan oil hairspray, they give so much shine to the hair and flexible hold!
What are some tricks you use to help hair/ makeup last all day?
I always recommend you steam all your clothing the night before your wedding day! Steam can just wreak havoc on your hair and makeup, and I want it to last as long as possible for you so please don't steam after hair and makeup is complete! The best thing you can do to help your hair and makeup last all day is not to touch it, the oils in your hands can make your hair go flat, and excess touching and friction can cause your hair to frizz as well. When it comes to making sure your makeup lasts all day, a large part is in the prep work you do ahead of time. Stay hydrated, make sure your skin isn't dry or flaking prior to your makeup application, and always remember to use patting motions when itching your face or catching tears, no wiping motions allowed haha!

What is an upcoming trend/ style that you love and hope to see more of this year
Bridal makeup is becoming more and more about your natural beauty, I think this next year we'll see a lot of minimal false lashes, lightweight foundation and pink tones I think will be very popular. Safe to say blush is going to be the star of the show! Personally I can't wait to see more blow outs and voluminous curls for down styles, I think soft bouncy hair will be huge this season as we take a step away from the very structured "Hollywood" wave that's been popular for a few years now.
